Dear sir/madam, i would like to know is whartons jelly cyst common and a\re they benign.But articles are presented that these cyst can be associated with VACTERL and also obstructive uropahty in neonates if that the case, all neonates with these cysts are they indicated for further routine investigation like USG kidney and Xray spine.If a single cyst was found can they be normal variant.
Answer
False umbilical cysts (pseudocysts) represent liquefaction of Wharton jelly. Pseudocysts are associated with chromosomal anomalies, omphalocele, and hemangiomas.
